The work promoted by the Route of the Romanesque in favour of the heritage, culture, tourism and essentially, of the integrated and sustainable development of the Sousa, Douro and Tâmega has been the target of several distinctions.
- Tourism of Portugal Prize 2009 | Public Rehabilitation Project | 13th January 2010
The Tourism of Portugal Prizes are the most prestigious national awards in the tourism industry. The awards ceremony, promoted by the public institution Turismo de Portugal [Tourism of Portugal], takes place during the BTL - International Tourism Exhibition in Lisbon. The Route of the Romanesque won the category "Public Rehabilitation Project", designed to identify interventions of material nature that contribute to the qualification of the offer and to strengthen the attractiveness of the tourist destination.

The International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry is promoted by the Editorial Office and the Trade Leaders' Club, entities based in Spain. Handed over during the FITUR - International Tourism Fair, in Madrid, this Trophy annually distinguishes the most important companies and institutions at an international level in the areas of Tourism, Hotel and Catering and Gastronomy.

The Novo Norte Awards are an initiative of the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission, supported by Jornal de Notícias, designed to publicly recognise the most innovative projects and which have most contributed to the development of the North in recent years. The Route of the Romanesque won the category "Norte Civitas," which aims to reward the projects connected to the promotion of competitiveness, cohesion, sustainability and governance of the northern territory.

The Medal of Touristic Merit is awarded by the Portuguese Government. The aim of this award is to reward individual or collective entities, national or foreign, who have stood out for outstanding or unusually relevant services for national tourism

The Innovation Prizes are awarded by the Tourism Innovation Forum, an initiative included in the INVTUR 2012 Conference. The Route of the Romanesque won the category “Product/Service Innovation”.
- Gold Medal of Municipal Merit | 27th July 2012
The Medal of Municipal Merit is awarded by the City Hall of Lousada. The aim of this award is to reward individual or collective entities that enhance the name of the county and put their skills to serve the common good. The Route of the Romanesque was awarded with the Gold level.
- Awards Portuguese Association of Museology 2013 - Merchandising | 13th December 2013
The APOM prizes are awarded annually and aim to encourage and reward the imaginations and creativity of Portuguese curators and their effective contribution to improving the quality of museums in Portugal, and is also a way to give visibility to what is best made in the context of museology. The Route of the Romanesque won the Merchandising category.

The mobile app of the Route of the Romanesque was one of the eight apps selected to represent Portugal at the World Summit Award, a United Nations initiative aimed at awarding the most innovative apps for mobile devices. The Route of the Romanesque app competed in the tourism and culture category.
- National Geographic Magazine Awards 2014 | 15th September 2014
The illustration dedicated to the construction phases of a Romanesque building, published in National Geographic magazine in August 2013, and developed in a partnership with the Route of the Romanesque, was honoured by the National Geographic Society, in the National Geographic Magazine Awards, which distinguish the best works published in the 40 international editions of the magazine each year. The illustration dedicated to the Route of the Romanesque was awarded in the "Best Graphic" category.
- ART&TUR Awards - International Tourism Film Festival 2014 - Cultural Tourism | 5th October 2014.
The ART&TUR Festival is one of the most prestigious competitions worldwide in the tourism film circuit. The competing films are distributed by the following categories: documentary, television report, promotional film and advertisement. The promotional film of the Route of the Romanesque was awarded an honourable mention, in the Cultural Tourism category.

The Medal of Cultural and Scientific Merit is awarded by the City Hall of Marco de Canaveses. The Route of the Romanesque was awarded with the Gold level. This award is the recognition of the work of the Route of the Romanesque in the promotion of Marco de Canaveses.

The new monography of the Route of the Romanesque is distinguished with an honorable mention in the A. de Almeida Fernandes 2016 Prize, awarded by the City Hall of Ponte de Lima.
- "O Norte Somos Nós" Awards | Regional Emblem | 30th November 2017
The Route of the Romanesque was recognised as a Regional Emblem in the "O Norte Somos Nós" Awards, promoted by the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N) and Jornal de Notícias. This distinction rewards the work developed by the Route of the Romanesque under the "ON.2 - O Novo Norte" European funding program (2007-2013).
- São Vicente Medal of Merit | 13th December 2017
The Parish Assembly and Council of Airães, Felgueiras, distinguished the Route of the Romanesque with the São Vicente Medal of Merit ("Civic Participation"), for the conservation and enhancement of the Church of Saint Mary of Airães.
- 2018 Sustainable Cultural Tourism Destination | 25th October 2018
The European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN), based in Brussels, Belgium, distinguished the Route of the Romanesque with the 3rd prize of the "Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards", in the "Cultural Landscapes" category.
- Awards Portuguese Association of Museology 2019 | 24th May 2019
The Interpretation Centre of the Romanesque won in the "Museographic Work", "Management and Multimedia App" and "Film" categories. It also received an honourable mention in the "Best Museum of the Year" category.
